After watching eastbound UP 5543 coming off the Galt Sub at Guelph Jct. and head toward Bayview, I headed to 10th Sideroad in Vinemount to catch its arrival. Waiting for a hour through scanner orders and CP police hunting teens in Hamilton, and having heard no orders for Welland, I abandoned the wait and got gas below the escarpment. Wouldn`t you know it as I filled up, there!..was UP 5543 cresting the escarpment! Vowing not to miss this chance, I hightailed up the escarpment and luckily caught it one crossing over at 11th sideroad. CP 9607 helping to push from the back. They still haven`t fixed the CP detector box here!
CP 8868 heads south to Welland after set off of cars at Kinnear Yards in Hamilton.
Vinemount Swamp, located along the Dofasco 2000 Trail, is the biggest natural forest area south of the escarpment in Hamilton. It's home to several rare and important species including the Northern Harrier, the Sedge Wren and Edward's Hairstreak Butterfly.
Thursday August 11th 2011 ***Hotbox at mile 44.9 heard at 4:49
Tuesday June 19th 2012.... Today was an extremely hot day, 36 C was read out on the hot box at mile 44.9 which I didn't capture for that very reason. There it was, 36 degrees outside, the hottest day of the summer so far and I'm outside getting a tan. Lol After the train passed I couldn't believe how drained I was holding my iPhone 4.
The "It's too cold to get out of my car" one shot of CP Engine 8783 on all of 5 cars heading to Welland on a windy December Sunday afternoon.

Thursday April 26th 2012....Tonight Loaded Ethanol Train 640 met Empty Ethanol Train 641 at Smithville. Usually 640 operates triweekly or every other day but lately CP has been running it more often, up to 5-6 days a week.
This was my first catch with my new iPhone 4, it was very cold and windy so I apologize in advance for the shaky camera as well as the video not being full screen, i'll correct that next time. This train originating from Toronto proceeded west down the Galt Sub, to Guelph Junction continuing south on the Hamilton Sub to Kinnear yard. From Kinnear the train climbs the steep grade up Stoney Creek Mountain, has now picked up speed through Vinemount siding and off to Welland Yard where a small set off was done. From there it's onwards to Buffalo. The engineer did give me a nice wave which you can see if you pause at the right time. 1:18
